A Hot & Cool Website

Audubon Cesco’s website in 2010 was made wider to fit higher screen resolutions.

Audubon Cesco is a locally owned and operated business that’s been helping customers with their home heating, air conditioning, and swimming pool maintenance needs since 1935.  They also have a pool supply store which carries a wide variety of equipment, supplies and services to keep your pool clean and running efficiently all summer long.

They first got onto the web in 1999.  In 2010, monitor resolution started going HD so the immediate need was for websites to fit wider monitors.  Google’s algorithms were placing emphasis on keywords and and sub-navigation (sidebar menus) were becoming a thing!

In 2014, they’re now using WordPress and the site is responsive, but where’s the blog?

Four years later, keywords became less important for organic SEO, with blogging and content creation becoming more important. With WordPress being a robust blogging and website CMS solution, it was a natural choice. After only a year, on April 21, 2015, Google announced their Google Mobile Friendly Update, later called Mobilegeddon due do it being a significant new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm designed to give a boost to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search results.  That meant that your site may rank lower if a visitor had to reverse pinch to read your content.  This meant a lot of restructuring for websites.  Audubon’s website was responsive but was lacking a few essential components that all websites should contain on the web today.

Here is the final website as it looks today. We cleaned up the design by removing some visual clutter and better displayed the core services.  WordPress comes with great blogging tools out of the box but it wasn’t included in their design.  Since content is still the reigning king of SEO, we added the blog to the template with three example posts.  Finally, we made sure to include a contact form and a “call-to-action” button on the homepage as well as making sure all displayed phone numbers were clickable to call from mobile phones.

These changes made Audubon Cesco’s new website are perfectly suited for today’s search engine algorithms, and provides a better user experience.  This will result in more people finding Audubon Cesco on the internet and a better chance of converting these visitors into customers.

Congratulation to Audubon Cesco on their new and improved website. Here’s to a great year ahead!
