The world wide web is a wide open sea and pirates abound. A lot of our clients are experiencing a spike in cyberattacks this week.  Specifically, a DoS Attack.  Below is a graph that shows the spike in attacks on a client site around noon today.

This is a typical denial-of-service attack (DoS attack).  A DoS attack is an intentional, or unintentional, cyberattack where excessive attempts to access your website ends up exceeding your hosting resources. The metaphor is a million people attempting to walk through a revolving door, resulting in no one getting through and crashing your site.

There are a few things you can do now to avoid this kind of disruption and lower your resource requirements, including choosing a more robust hosting platform and installing a cache plugin to generate and serve html files instead of processing heavier WordPress PHP scripts.
